Tanco’s extensive corporate experience covers financial services, manufacturing, transportation and logistics, energy, property development and ICT-enabled education and services. His professional associations include the Philippines-Thailand Business Council, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Tanco finished A.B. Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University and earned his masters degree in Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He holds interests in several companies such as manufacturing of textiles and chemicals, cargo handling, power distribution, property, stock brokering, investment banking and insurance.
As chairman of the Philippines’ premier IT school – Systems Technology Institute (STI), Tanco believes investing in education would help keep the country’s competitive economic advantage in human resources by training and preparing the youth to compete in the world market. He once described OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) as the Philippines’ “economic saviors.”
Among the 30 other positions he now holds, Tanco is also the chairman of All Asia Insurance Holdings, vice chairman of port operator Asian Terminals Inc., president of Philippines First Insurance Co., and a member of the board of Bank of Commerce and College Assurance Plan.

Apart from his broad business holdings, Tanco participates in various philanthropic activities, mainly in providing quality education for deserving but impoverished students through scholarships.
